Rotavirus

Infancy (0-18 Months)

1998

Rotavirus used to be one of the most common and dangerous causes of severe diarrhea, dehydration, and hospitalization in infants and young children. The oral rotavirus vaccine teaches the body’s immune system to stop the virus early. Since its introduction, hospitals around the world have seen rotavirus-related admissions drop by 67 percent overall, with some places recording reductions of over 80 percent in the youngest children. This vaccine has made a dramatic difference in protecting the littlest ones.
