Tdap Booster
Preteens & Teens (11–18 years)

Yes
The bacteria that cause tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis are still present in the environment. Immunity from childhood vaccines fades with time, which is why the Tdap booster is recommended for teens and adults. Given during pregnancy, it also passes protective antibodies to newborns who are too young for their own shots. Research shows this practice has nearly cut in half the number of infants hospitalized with whooping cough.
